Monika Byrd

Monika Byrd is Phi Theta Kappa’s Dean of Leadership Development. She has served in higher education since 1989, and has been at Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters since 1999.

In addition to working with Phi Theta Kappa’s Honors Program, Monika is the editor for Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Development Studies: A Humanities Approach, facilitates the Leadership Instructor Certification Seminars, writes on leadership and leadership development for the Society web pages, and is always seeking new, fun, and interactive ways to develop leaders among students. She has decades of personal and professional experience as a Road Warrior throughout the United States and around the world, and especially enjoys traveling with her children.

At home, Monika travels on foot for long “thought walks” on leadership, innovation, books, or film, accompanied by Riley and Roxy, her Jack Russell Terriers who think mostly about chasing squirrels.
